1980 opening day premiere "In God We Trust" film L.A. advertisement...

Item # 729148 ·
This authentic "Calendar" section leaf from the Sept. 21, 1980 Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times—comprising a complete, original four-page layout—serves as a rare piece of cinematic ephemera, highlighted by an original vintage print advertisement announcing the opening day release of  "IN GOD WE TRUST" starring Marty Feldman & Andy Kaufman on one of the pages. (see images).
In addition to the featured movie ad, which captures the era's distinct theatrical promotional graphics and classic key art, the surrounding pages provide a fascinating snapshot of late 20th-century entertainment and pop culture. Printed on authentic newsprint with genuine vintage toning, this original leaf is not a modern reprint, making it an ideal piece for custom framing, film history display, or inclusion in a dedicated cinema memorabilia collection.

Background: Directed, co-written, and starring British comedian Marty Feldman, the 1980 satirical comedy In God We Tru$t delivers a sharp critique of the commercialization and televangelism craze of the late 20th century by following Brother Ambrose, an intensely naive Trappist monk sent into the chaotic streets of Los Angeles to raise $5,000 and save his monastery from foreclosure. As the innocent monk navigates the modern city alongside a warmhearted sex worker named Mary (Louise Lasser) and a traveling con-artist preacher (Peter Boyle), the film's most notable content stems from its star-studded ensemble performance—featuring Andy Kaufman in a rare, hilarious role as the ruthless, wealth-obsessed televangelist Armageddon T. Thunderbird of the "Church of Divine Profit," alongside iconic comedian Richard Pryor, who makes a cameo appearance as G.O.D. (General Organizational Directivatator), a literal giant supercomputer deity worshipped for financial prosperity.
