Page 11 has a somewhat discrete report under "Motor Racing" which reports Kyle Busch's win in the National Series at Richmond. This was his very 1st NASCAR series victory. (see images) This series didn't get as much attention as the Cup resulting in the brief report here.
I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because there was really no reason to save it at the time.
Complete 1st and sport's sections only with a total 42 pages, very nice condition.
Background: Kyle Busch’s victory in the Funai 250 at Richmond International Raceway on May 14, 2004, holds immense historical significance as the definitive launching pad for one of the most prolific and polarizing careers in NASCAR history. At just 19 years and 12 days old, Busch—driving the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet—delivered a masterclass in short-track racing by winning the pole with a track-record speed of 129.348 mph and leading a staggering 236 of 250 laps. By holding off seasoned NASCAR Cup Series veterans like Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick in a thrilling 0.150-second overtime finish, the rookie didn't just capture his first career NASCAR national series win; he shattered the narrative that teenagers lacked the physical grit and psychological poise to compete against the sport's elite. This victory vaulted him into the Busch Series points lead, signaled the arrival of a new generation of hyper-aggressive young talent, and served as the absolute cornerstone for what would eventually become a record-breaking haul of over 200 national series wins, establishing the foundational blueprint for a future two-time Cup Series Champion and first-ballot Hall of Famer.
