The Revolutionary War is weakening quickly...
MIDDLESEX JOURNAL & EVENING POST, London, July 1, 1779 Most of the ftpg. is taken up with continued report of "A Further Account of the Debate in the House of Commons...Relative to the Howes' Papers". More on this on the bkpg. This was an examination of the action of General Howe in America during his time in command of British forces.
Page 2 has a report from New York noting in part: "The rebellion still continues, though we think it weakens fast, and we are not without hopes that the present year will end it...their paper money, as they call it, is not worth more than as 1 s. sterling is to 30 of theirs; in short it is next to nothing..." with more on the dismal situation of the Americans.
Four pages, nearly close-trimmed at the top of page 1, generally good condition.
