" "Official Letter - Copy of a Letter from Major General Jackson to the Secretary of War, dated Hqts., 4 miles below New Orleans" in which he details, in his own words, his victory over the British at this historic Battle of New Orleans. It is signed in type: Andrew Jackson. Some follow-up items as well.
There there is: "A Proclamation" by the mayor of New Orleans, beginning: "Whereas, it has pleased the Almighty Disposer of events to signalize our arms under the command of the gallant Gen. Jackson at Orleans, by a victory over the invading foe unparalled in the annals of nations..." with more.
Page 3 has an article: "American Negotiation" concerning talks at Ghent to end the war. Also, with a nice graphic, is: "PEACE!!! which begins: "It is with the liveliest emotions of joy nd gratitude that we present our readers with the heart-cheering news of the day..." with much concerning the Treaty of Peace ending the war.
Four pages, very nice condition.
