James Fenimore Cooper in Paris...

Item # 714776 ·

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Jan. 21, 1832  Inside has a quite rare & obscure report concerning famed author James Fenimore Cooper.
It has a small heading: "The Poles" and reports on Cooper being  in Paris, a correspondence with LaFayette, the plight of the Polish, and him chairing a meeting of the "Americans in Paris" on Oct. 22, 1831, all of this verified on the internet in an article titled: "James Fenimore Cooper's Polish Cause" by Bradley Lenz.
Also within are: "The Slave Question" and a lengthy speech in Congress by Henry Clay, among other items.
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, very nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
