AMERICAN MERCURY, Hartford, Nov. 22, 1814 The front page has 4 documents (a 5th carries over to page 2), each signed in type by the President: James Madison. One is a "Resolution" concerning the capture of the British ship Reindeer by the American sloop Wasp.
Inside has some fine accounts including: "...Letter from Capt. Gordon to the Sec. of the Navy" from Norfolk, plus a 2nd letter as well. Also: "Destruction of the British Sloop of War Avon by the Wasp" "which has several accounts and takes over a full column. Also: "British Account...Wasp and Avon" with more.
Four pages, nice condition.
