NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Oct. 1, 1836  Inside has a report: "Texas" mentioning Santa Ana, and that: "...The election for president took place on the 5th instant. General Samuel Houston was elected president, and M. B. Lamar vice president...". There is also a: "Proclamation" signed in type: Sam. Houston, concerning unsafe conditions due to the Indians, and his requisitions for forces. Same page has a lengthy & details report of an Indian attack upon a family.
The back page has a bit noting: "While, in England, Jews are excluded by law from holding any public situations & virtually debarred from the professions...In England, the clergy of the established church preach against the emancipation of the Jews."
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, very nice condition.
