Very intriguing, small newspaper...

Item # 702176 ·
MUNCY NEWS, Muncy, Pennsylvania, Sept. 3, 1892  A small, unusual format newspaper from this small town in north central Pennsylvania. It measures just 3 1/2 inches tall while being 7 inches wide with four pages.
The front page has "Local News" tidbits, while pages 2 and 3 have even less content.  Page 4 4 is blank.
This is the vol. 1 number 8 issue and I doubt that the newspaper lasted very long.
Tiny binding holes at the blank spine, great condition.

Background: The Muncy News was a small, short-lived newspaper published in Muncy, Pennsylvania, during 1892. Issues like Vol. 1 No. 7 (August 27, 1892) and Vol. 1 No. 8 (September 3, 1892) indicate it was a compact, four-page weekly, with a format measuring about 3½″ × 7″. It focused on hyper-local content such as community events, weather updates, fishing conditions, and regional infrastructure developments like the Muncy dam and railroad. Though few issues survive, those that do offer a rare glimpse into late 19th-century life in Lycoming County. Some issues are preserved in Pennsylvania newspaper archives and historical collections.
