BALLOU'S PICTORIAL, Boston, Dec. 4, 1858  The front page has the print of: "William E. Burton, Esq., Comedian", which is by Winslow Homer. 
Other prints within include: "Falls on the St. John, New Brunswick" "Lumbering in New Brunswick - Lumberman's Camp" "St. Boniface Cathedral, Red River, British America" "Ojibway Encampment At Rainy River".
Also: "The Career of Industry" contrasted with: "The Wasted Life". Of special note is a print of the: "Mission of Saint Louis Obispo, California".
Also within: "Pawnee Warrior..., or Buffalo Bull", "Pawnee Chief..., or Only Chief" and more. 
Sixteen pages, good condition.

Note: The engraving titled William E. Burton, Esq., Comedian is an early work by American artist Winslow Homer, created in 1858. This wood engraving was published in Ballou’s Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion on December 4, 1858, and portrays the renowned 19th-century English-born actor William E. Burton. The piece exemplifies Homer's early illustrative style, characterized by clean outlines and dramatic contrasts, which would later influence his celebrated paintings.
