The top of the front page has a five column headline: "ENVOYS BOARD U. S. SHIP OFF TOKYO AS 1,200 PLANES GUARD BIG FLEET" with subheads and related photo. (see). Coverage on the initial occupation Japan with the United States Navy entering Sagami Bay. The official signing of surrender would take place a few days later on board the USS Missouri.
