LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, New York, March 11, 1865  The prime print is the very nice doublepage centerfold captioned: "Our Volunteer Fire Department--A Series of Illustrations Representing the Various Steam Fire Engines Now Used in New York". This is an excellent print showing 24 steam fire engines (see). A terrific print for display for any collector of fire memorabilia. The full front page shows a patriotic print: "The Old Flag Again on Sumter--Raised by Capt. H. N. Bragg...".
Other prints within include: "Scene at Savannah, Ga.--Branding Horses Captured During Sherman's Campaign" "Launch of the Panama Railroad Company's New Steamer 'Panama' at Panama, New Granada" "View of Fort Anderson on the West Bank of Cape Fear River, N.C., Captured by the U..S. Troops" "View of Jail at Savannah" with small prints of various ways prisoners were bound. Also: "Tunneling the Alps--Machine & Used in Drilling Through Mount Cenis".
Sixteen pages, a bit close-trimmed at the top of the first page, and a bit rough around the edges with occasional foxing, but the key fire-engine print is quite nice with only a minimal amount fo foxing. See images for details.
