ST. JAMES'S CHRONICLE, London, Sept. 12, 1767  Page 3 contains a biting speech by the Lt. Governor of West Florida to the Assembly, noting in part: "...I find much of your attention taken up in unworthy attempts to throw reflections upon my conduct...the most insolent & shameful resolutions that any Assembly ever presented to a Governor...What must other Colonies think of you when they know how you tax the subject merely for your own benefit & advantage. I sincerely hoped your journals would have...giving up for the improvement of the Colony, the great salaries which you have taken to yourselves...".
The back page has a report noting General Gage has causes: "...the suspension of our charter & a suspension of the legislative power here until we have complied with the Billetting Act...".
