The two line banner headline announces: "STOCKS PLUNGE 508 POINTS, A DROP OF 22.6%; 604 MILLION VOLUME NEARLY DOUBLES RECORD" with subheads: "WORLDWIDE IMPACT" "Frenzied Trading Raises Fears of Recession--Tape 2 Hours Late". This was perhaps the most notable stock market "crash" issue since the 1929 event, and an elusive issue as few were saved. There are 3 related front page photos as well as a lengthy graph showing the "Dow's Record Plunge" Great to have this event in the famous New York Times.
