This is an interesting interview touching on several topics, perhaps the most interesting on the Custer battle. One of his quotes reads: "I regard Custer's Massacre as a sacrifice of troops, brought on by Custer himself, that was wholly unnecessary - wholly unnecessary.". His comments on General Crook include: "...General Crook is the best, wiliest Indian fighter in this country. He has the vast experience in Indian fighting. His campaign against the Idahos & many other tribes show his brilliant talent as an Indian fighter..." with more.
