Page 2 has over half a column headed: "The Mormons" which is mostly taken up with a letter dated at Philadelphia, Nov. 30, 1846 concerning their situation. A few bits mention: "...on the position and character of the Mormon people...the persecutions they had undergone...whole affair of the Mormon expulsion...a simple, unmitigated, unblushing outrage committed...the Mormon settlements on the Mississippi included a population of nearly 30,000 souls..." and much, much more. It ends with: "...I dread the winter that is before them. They are upon the bleak platform of the North Missouri...surrounded by all that is dreadful in the life of the wilderness."
This issue also has several reports on the Mexican War.
