August 13, 1898
THE NORTH AMERICAN, Philadelphia, Aug. 13, 1898
* Spanish-America War ends
* Independence of Cuba
The front page announces: "THE PRESIDENT DECLARES THE WAR AT AN END" with related subheads including: "Peace Protocol Between the united States and Spain Is Now Signed" "A Proclamation Has Been Issued' and more (see).
This essentially marked the end of the Spanish-American War, although negotiations did not create the formal treaty until December.
Eight pages, some margin tears, generally good. Should be handled with care.
