Item # 613299 ·
THE MISSOURI REPUBLICAN, St. Louis, January 7, 1877

* Deaf-blind Woman

This uncommon Midwestern title has news of the day with many advertisements. Page 11 has an article headed: "Laura Bridgman" "An Evening in Her Home--Her Wonderful Tact and Ingenuity" (see)

wikipedia notes: Laura Dewey Lynn Bridgman is known as the first deaf-blind American child to gain a significant education in the English language, fifty years before the more famous Helen Keller.
