May 29, 1876
ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, May 29, 1876

* Wild Bill Hickok
* Very rare report

Our experience is that very few newspapers reported the famous death of Wild Bill Hickok in Deadwood, and we almost never find newspaper accounts of him during his life. In fact a check of our database shows no newspaper accounts of Hickok while he was alive (Harper's Magazine did a feature of him in 1867). He died in August, 1876 while playing poker in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Page 2 has an article taking over a full column headed: "Cheyenne Chit-Chat" "A Romance About Wild William and a Queen of the Circus Arena" "How Crook Was Treated by the Indians and Agents at Red Cloud". One of the subheads is: "A Chapter In The History of Wild Bill" which begins: "Noticing newspaper accounts of Wild Bill (Wm. Hickok) who, in the role of leader of the 'St. Louis, Big Horn and Black Hills expedition', is just now receiving much sought for notoriety..." with more (see).
Page 2 also has; "In The Gold Diggings" "What A Denverite Says About the New Eldorado--Provisions and Whisky in Custer City".
Eight pages, a bit irregular at the blank spine margin, generally very nice, clean condition.
