Although this weekly newspaper has various reports from the Civil War, certainly the most significant content is the page 3 printing of the Emancipation Proclamation which is headed: "A Proclamation" followed by the complete text of this historic document by which Lincoln freed all slaves--effective January 1--in both the North & the South. It takes most of a column & is signed in type: Abraham Lincoln.
Four pages, large folio size, some printing creases to the Proclamation do not cause loss of readability, nice condition.
