April 22, 1814
THE YANKEE, Boston, Massachusetts, April 22, 1814 The front page of the issue contains a false death report of Commodore Rodgers. "...[Here the Editor gives a report of the capture of the President by the Majestic; and, says the article, Commodore Rodgers was killed.]..."
Inside the issue two separate victory reports. The first being from France and Napoleon. "...He tells them candidly of his losses, by the treachery of Allies, and on that account victory had deserted his standard..." The second is of Gen. Jackson's official account of a bloody victory of the Creek Indians. "... This will give a death blow to the Creeks, and relieve our southern brethren from a most distressing war..."
The last page contains a heading "Biographical - Character of Tecumseh" which provides great detail about this warrior chef.
This contains other news and advertisements of the day, including a "60 Dollars Reward" for deserted infantry members.
This is complete in four pages measuring 19 1/4 x 13 inches with a slightly irregular left spine, some lite scattered foxing, otherwise is in good condition.
