October 03, 1789
THE BENGAL JOURNAL & WEEKLY ADVERTISER, Calcutta, India, Oct. 3, 1789

* Very rare title

An exceedingly rare and early newspaper from British India, totally in English so obviously for the British colonists & troops in India at the time. This newspaper lasted only from 1785 to 1790. Of significance is a nearly column long article: "Expedition to Botany Bay" [present-day Australia] being an: "Extract of a letter from Capt. Tench, dated Sydney Cove, Port Jackson, Cumberland County, New South Wales, 1788"
Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed, some foxing near folds, 3 discrete tape mends at the very top inside not touching text, very nice condition.
