January 16, 1890
THE WORLD, New York, Jan. 16, 1890  The front page has nearly 1 1/2 columns taken up with: "After Byrnes's Scalp" "The Woodhull Sisters Are Mad & On The Warpath" "They Say The Inspector Styled Them Adventuresses" "Determined to Prosecute All Persons & Journals Which Assail Their Characters...". The article includes prints of both "Victoria Woodhull" and "Tennie Claflin", leaders in the woman's suffrage movement of the 19th century.
Plus, page 2 has the latest report on the round-the-world trip of Nellie Bly, an excursion which was sponsored by this newspaper. It also ran a contest to guess to exact length of time for her trip (see). The pg. 2 article is headed: "Sixty-Three Days Out and followed by: "Forty Minutes Late - The Nellie Bly Escort Delayed by Snow--A Clear Track Now" (see). It is likely that reports on Nellie Bly will only be found in this newspaper.
Ten pages, browned with various margin tears, quite fragile so must be handled carefully.
