March 23, 1858
THE LOUISIANA DEMOCRAT, Alexandria, March 23, 1858
* Very rare pre Civil War Southern title
* Unique slaves for sale advertisement
We rarely find Louisiana titles from before the Civil War. Page 3 has a very intriguing ad for a sheriff's sale of a property which includes 30 slaves, with noted details on each, and noting at the bottom: "All Slaves For Life" (see). Some damage to this ad. This issue has wear with fold damage causing minor loss, some archival mends, staining, and a 2 1/2 by 6 inch piece torn from the bottom of the back leaf. Still a very rare title with a slave ad like I've not seen before.
