* 1876 presidential election
* Rutherford B. Hayes

The Presidential election of 1876 was a highly contested one. Tilden received a majority of the popular votes, but disputes over fraudulent election practices & electoral votes threw the final decision to Congress. Hayes was ultimately declared the winner.
The top of column 2 on the front page have much on the election, including: "STILL IN DOUBT", "Both Parties Confident Of Victory", "Ku Klux Resorting to Violence to Prevent Returns from Coming In", "Pacific States Republican Without a Doubt" and more. The text takes up 3 full columns on the front page.
Other news and advertisements of the day. Complete 8 page issue, minor spine wear, generally nice condition.
