April 13, 1942
THE TRIBUNE, Manila, Philippines, April 13, 1942 A very significant issue with a two line banner head: "ENTIRE BATAAN IN JAPANESE HANDS" with a large front page photo showing the meeting arranging for the surrender. Other related heads on the front page as well. The fall of Bataan in the Philippines was a significant setback for the allied forces and marked the beginning of the infamous Bataan Death March of the 75,000 prisoners to a prisoner of war camp 60 miles distant. Terrific to have this report in a Philippines newspaper.
