SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER, May 27, 1941
* Pride of the German Navy
* Battleship Bismarck sunk
* Great bold front page headline (best I've seen)
* Revenge for the HMS Hood
In bold letters above the masthead is "FINAL 8 A.M.EXTRA" plus a huge & very bold banner headline:
"BISMARCK SUNK"
This ship was the pride of the German Navy & was responsible for the sinking of the British battleship "H.M.S. Hood", flagship of the home fleet. Following this Churchill issued the famous order "Sink the Bismarck!" and 3 days later they did. This headline is a same-day report.
A terrific display issue of one of the more notable naval events of World War II. Presumed to be the complete "Extra" edition, in good condition.
