This was one of only a few newspapers which printed: "Confederate States of America" in the dateline (see). The front page includes: "From Richmond--Norther Reports of the Capture of  Murfreesboro--The Effect on the Stock Market in New  York "Union Meeting In New York" "Largest Northern News" "From Grenada, Miss.--Information of Curtis' Movements" "News From  Vicksburg--A Fight or Skeedaddle Expected--The Arkansas Getting Ready for Action" "Latest from Vicksburg" "Our Sick & Wounded Soldiers" "Charleston Battalion" "The Field" and a few other items.

Page 2 has: 'Northern Intelligence" which has many subheads. Page 3 is taken up with ads, while the bkpg. has: "Latest from The North--Highly Important From Tennessee--Capture of Murfreesboro by the Confederates--Desperate Fighting--Two Yankee Brigadier Generals & an Entire Regiment Captured" which takes close to two columns. Also on the bkpg. is a letter signed in type: Benjamin Butler, & a short note signed in type by: Abraham Lincoln, and "General Pope's Address to his Army" signed: John Pope. Other war related items as well.

Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed (desired), scattered foxing, very nice condition.
