JENKS' PORTLAND GAZETTE, (Maine), Oct. 29, 1804 Although this newspaper was published in present-day Maine, at the time it was part of Massachusetts, not joining the union until 1820 when it was part of the Missouri Compromise. This is one of the earliest "Maine" newspapers we have offered. The ftpg. has "Review of Mr. Jefferson's Administration" taking 2 columns. Various news & ads of the day on the inside pages.
Four pages, some loss at the spine does affects some words in the ftpg. Jefferson article & some pg. 2 text as well. Never-trimmed, some inside pg. archival mends.
