NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, January 31, 1835 This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
An inside page has a report from Norfolk noting: "...The Constellation frigate is ordered to be got ready for sea immediately; and also the ship of the line North Carolina--and to the north, the Constitution, United States, and three sloops of war." (see)
Another page has a report headed: "Operations of the Mint United States - 1834" which is signed in type by the President: Andrew Jackson. The report includes charts of the coinage count and a statement of the amount of gold produced annually from the gold region of the United States during the last decade (see)
Much other reporting from Congress as well as other news of the day. Complete in 16 pages, 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches, very nice condition.
