COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, Dec. 29, 1790 The entire front page is taken up with various reports and "General Orders" concerning the Indian wars in the Northwest near Fort Wayne. The battles are from October, the initial battle being a loss to General Harmar, and would begin a series of battles with the Ohio Indians to last for another five years (see for portion).
Page 3 has a report of the death of: "Negro Tom, the famous African Calculator...He was the property of Mrs. Elizabeth Cox of Alexandria...This man was a prodigy. Though he could neither read nor right, he had perfectly acquired the art of enumeration..." with much more (see).
