August 30, 1775
THE EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Aug. 30, 1775 Fully two-thirds of the front page is taken up with a very nice account of a British merchant being detained & interrogated upon arrival in America, including his letter of plea for his release, along with some details on how he escaped his guards to get back to England (see for portions).
Page 2 has several reports concerning the Revolutionary War including a "Proclamation" from W. Tryon, a letter from Salem, and a letter from Newport, R.I. Also a report that: "...letters from Boston of the 19th of July mention that nothing very material had happened since the last engagement of the 17th of July except the destruction of the light houses near Boston by the rebels..." with some details (see).
Four pages, some light dirtiness, archival repairs at the blank spine margin, close-trimmed at the top affects the top line of several columns but nothing to mentioned reports.
