Here is a rare title from Montrose, a community located in Susquehanna County, in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania. Although it lasted for just 2 1/2 years, the Centinel was the very first newspaper published in Montrose.
The masthead features an engraving of an eagle and an arch of fifteen stars, with the "Centinel" in bold letters. Also has the newspaper's motto in the masthead: "Here shall the Press the People's Rights maintain, Unaw'd by influence, and unabrid'd by gain." (see) This is a volume 2 issue (number 38).
Complete in 4 pages, wide, untrimmed margins, very nice condition.
