THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY, OR WORCESTER GAZETTE, August 8, 1798

The entire front page and half of page 2 are taken up with: "An Act to Provide for the Valuation of lands, and dwelling houses, and the enumeration of slaves, within the United States." Signed by him in type: John Adams, President. Page 2 has a: "Speech" by Napoleon Buonaparte.

Page 3 has an item: "...accounts...that capt. Druxton, in the Constellation frigate, has captured a French privateer 20 guns which he sent into Charleston..." Also mention that the President & his wife passed through Newark, New  Jersey. And a bit further on is mention of his arrival at New York (see). The back page has a Massachusetts act to prevent gambling, worded: "An act more effectually to prevent the pernicious practice of Gaming."

Four pages never bound nor trimmed, some scattered foxing, very nice condition.
