As noted in the masthead this was the: "Gazette of The Regular & Volunteer Forces" and as such is replete with military news of all sorts.
The entire front page is taken up with: "The Military Situation" with various war-related reports. Among the inside pages are: "A National, Not A State Army" "Army Personal" "The President to General Grant" which is his letter of congratulations for Grant's victory at Vicksburg, signed in type: A. Lincoln (see). There are other military dispatches in this issue also including a lengthy one signed: G. T.Beauregard. Other items are headed: "The Military Academy" "General Bragg In Danger" "The Conscription" "Fort Sumter & Charleston" "Forts of Sand or Masonry: which?" and more.
Sixteen pages, 10 by 14 1/3 inches, nice eagle in the masthead, minor chipping at the margins, nice condition.
