THE STAR, Guernsey, Channel Islands, June 6, 1944

* D-Day invasion of Europe
* Rare pro-Nazi newspaper

This is an exceedingly rare opportunity for a significant report not only in a Nazi newspaper, but one in the English language as well. Guernsey is an island in the English Channel, and from 1940 thru 1945 it was occupied by the Nazi forces which controlled this newspaper to act as the mouthpiece of Hitler, obviously very biased towards the German cause. Fascinating reading as such.
A bit over half of the first column is taken up with a report of D-Day, with headings: "Invasion Begins At 5:30 This Morning" "Germany Will Fight With Her Whole Might" with a dateline of Berlin. The full text is seen in the photos and includes: "...our enemies in the West have, upon orders from Moscow, started their bloody sacrifice which they have feared for such a long time...we will give them a very warm welcome..." with more.
The balance of this 4 page issue is taken up with other biased reports on WWII plus various local news & ads. Measures about 12 1/2 by 13 inches. Very nice condition with a bit of light foxing and a very rare opportunity for a unique report.
