DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, April 23, 1864 The ftpg. has: "The War News" and "A Stupid Report which begins: "The absurd rumour that the government was about to be removed from Richmond to some inland town further South..." (see); also: "Supplies--What the Tithes Show" "Mr. Long's Great Speech in the Yankee Congress" with subheads: "The Inauguration of the War" "How Now Stands the War?" "The Prospect Now" "Car War Restore the Union?" "What the War Has Taught" "What Is the Position of the Confederate States in This War" and "The Consequences of Secession" and more.
The bkpg. has the always interesting editorial, bits including: "...This burst of virtuous wrath over the crimes perpetrated by Confederates may well make us reflect...Evidently, in the eyes of the strictly moral Yankee we have entered upon an evil & vicious course of conduct...For the first time since secession, it is now possible to see to the end of the war, and of the Federal power..." and much more, taking nearly two columns. Als on on the bkpg: "Our Cause In England" and "Monument to 'Stonewall Jackson' In Europe" and some other items on the War.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a banner masthead, in very nice, clean condition.
