March 28, 1878
THE AMERICAN SOCIALIST, Oneida New York, March 28, 1878 An inside page features a small report on Jefferson Davis "Jefferson Davis lives in Memphis, Tenn. He is said to be very thin, and to look very old and broken... But did you ever think what a pair of skinny invalids that Confederacy had to preside over it?"  This is a small size newspaper from the famous Oneida Community in New York, an early "commune" in experimental living. Various religiously-themed content but a bit of reporting of news of the day as well.
An interesting title from this interesting community in in upstate New York. Complete in 8 pages measuring approximately 11.5 x 16 inches and is in nice condition.
