THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Dec. 12, 1780  Inside has a "...letter frm New York" which includes: "Rebellion seems to be in a deep consumption..thousands of land forces remain at Rhode Island, attended by a superior fleet...the French are in a situation they do not like; disliked by the rebels & want of provisions...General Arnold is now here, more are expected; despair & distraction seem to run through the host of the enemies of Great Britain." (see)
The bkpg. notes: "...letters in town from America...which mention that a detached part of the army from New York, consisting of about 350 British and 600 Hessians...under the command of General Knyphausen, had surprised a part of the enemy lodged in a wood...the attack was sudden, desperate & well conducted. The Americans, to the number of 1800 choice troops, were obliged to relinquish their post & retreat with great loss..." and a bit more (see).
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, some light rubbing, more to the front page, generally nice..
