* Death of the Prince of Wales

A very nice pre-Revolutionary War magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content including news of the day, political reports, literary items, and other unusual tidbits. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.

The first article is: "On the Death of the Prince of Wales" which takes 2 pages. There is more on the: "Death of the Prince of Wales" near the back of the issue. This is followed by: "Of the Great Black Wasp of Pennsylvania" which includes a nice illustration of it (see).

There is a nice full page plate showing a Roman bridge near Nimes captioned: "Pont du Gard near Nismez in France" (see) with a related article as well.

Over a full page is: "Description of the Madagascar Bat" which includes two illustrations of it (see).

Complete in 48 pgs. with full title/index page which contains an engraving of St. John's Gate.  Measures about 5 by 8 inches, two inked library stamps at a bottom margin affect nothing, otherwise very nice condition.
