* Quarterback Sid Luckman - Chicago Bears sets six records
* Leonard Bernstein conducts the New York Philharmonic
The sports page has a large headline reading: "Giants Crushed by Luckman's 7 Scoring Passes; 6 Records Toppled" which includes to photos as well. Among the many subheads are: "56,681 See Bears Run Up 56-7 Score" and more (see photos). Luckman is in the NFL Hall of Fame, is in the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, his 7 touchdown passes is a record which has been matched but not topped, and in this same game was the first 400 yard passing game in NFL history. Also, Luckman is considered the first modern T-formation quarterback.
Also of significance is the front page report of 25 year-old Leonard Bernstein taking over as conductor of the New York Philharmonic. The article carries over to the back page where there is a photo of Bernstein being congratulated by members of the orchestra after his his Carnegie Hall debut (see).
This issue is complete in 40 pages and is a "rag edition", meaning printed on very high quality newsprint still remaining very white. The back page is slightly toned, otherwise is in very nice condition.
