THE NEW YORK HERALD, New Yor, NY, dated February 3, 1842  The prime content of this issue is a page two report with the heading:  "The Grand Metropolitan Festival and Ball to be given to Charles Dickens - - The First Literary Movement".  The text includes:  "We give to-day one of the most important documents ever placed before the 'breathing world,' since the celebration of the birth of Homer in Athens, during the forty-second Olympiad, or the great festival to the memory of Shakespeare, celebrated in England on the 4th of June, 1743, old style.  it is the preliminary proceedings, in the great festival, by all the talents and respectability... all the vertue and genious of New York, to be given to Charles Dickens, the immortal Boz, on his arrival..." and "Let us, therefore, bid welcome to Charles Dickens - he deserves all the honor we can smother him with, short of absolute suffocation.  Hurrah!", with additional details.  The report takes approximately 9 linear inches, and is well-inked for ease of reading.

The issue is complete in 4 pages, and is in excellent condition.
