THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, April 10, 1777  An inside page has an item noting: "...letter from...New York...it appears that General Lee is confined in a place called the New Gaol...that very pressing overtures for his enlargement had been submitted to Gen. Howe...ever believed that the prisoner would be sent to England..." with some more concerning the captive General Charles Lee, captured by the British near Basking Ridge, New Jersey (see).
The back page has a report from the "Newport Gazette" which begins: "Several cartel vessels have lately arrived with a number of prisoners that had been taken during the rebellion." and what follows is an address to the commanding general of the British forces in Rhode Island (see photos for the full text).
Complete with all 8 pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
