THE DAILY ILLINOIS STATE JOURNAL newspaper from Springfield, Illinois, February 23, 1859...
* Rare advertisement from his hometown in Illinois
* Before he became nationally known
* Only title to find such an ad ?
This is an uncommon newspaper from Abraham Lincoln's hometown, containing on the front page an advertisement, albeit rather small, for "LINCOLN & HERNDON, Attorneys and Counsellors At Law" (see photo).
A very desirable and early reminder of Lincoln's law practice before he would be thrust into American history forever.
Also, this is very likely the only newspaper in the country in which this ad could be found.
This issue contains news of the day with other interesting ads.
Complete 4 page issue with some light damp staining to the right hand portion as seen in the photo, otherwise in very nice condition.
