March 19, 1864
CHARLESTON DAILY COURIER, South Carolina, March 19, 1864
* Rare from the Confederacy
Printed within the dateline at the top is: "Confederate States Of America" which is rarely found in such newspapers.
The front page has both Civil War and non war reports, some headed: "From Demopolis, Ala. - All Quiet in Front" "Siege of Charleston" "The Currency Measures" "Funding Treasury Notes, Size of Bonds" "The Negro Victims" and a bit more.
The back page has just a bit of news reporting including: "Camp Conversations", but is mostly taken up with advertisements, including a lengthy "Notice" concerning "The Currency Act".
Complete as a single sheet newspaper as was typical from this late in the war, as most paper mills were located in the North. Full size, a few areas of paper weakness not from wear, two small & very discreet archival mends to the back page, generally in very nice & clean condition.
