THE MASSACHUSETTS SPY, and Worcester County Gazette, dated October 28, 1829.  This issue containing a page 3 proclamation from Levi Lincoln, the Governor of Massachusetts, "For a day of public Thanksgiving and Praise".  The proclamation takes nearly 8 linear inches of text, and is quite direct in his exhortation to the people observe a "Solemn Festival of Thanksgiving to Almighty God".  The date for this public expression was to be on the 4th Thursday of November.  Interesting to note that this was before Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving to be a National Holiday; rather intriguing considering Levi and Abraham were distant relatives (through their common ancestor Samuel Lincoln).  Levi's father (Levi Sr.) was also one of the Minutemen during the onset of the Revolutionary War,

The issue is complete in 4 pages.  The 2nd leaf does have some dampstaining, but is otherwise in very nice condition.
