THE FLORIDIAN & JOURNAL, Tallahassee, Florida, July 21, 1849

* Early and rare from Tallahassee, Florida
* Pre civil war deep South

An early and uncommon title from the capital of the Sunshine State, this is the volume I, number 28 issue, from just four years after Florida achieved statehood.

The front page has a lengthy "Address" of R.S. Hayward to his "Fellow Citizens, and Brother Sons of Temperance".

Beginning on the front page and concluding on page 2 is a detailed report about the "Fourth of July in Monticello".

Page 3 has a report: "Death of Mrs. Madison--This venerable lady, the relict of the fourth President of the United States, is no more. She died in Washington on Thursday the 13th inst., at the advanced age of 86 years. She leaves a multitude of sorrowing friends."

Other news and content, plus many ads. Large area of dampstaining in the upper half, otherwise in very good condition.
