THE NEW YORK HERALD, January 1, 1865  Certainly the prime  feature of this issue is the huge map of the United States which takes close to half of the front page, headed: "THE CONTRACTING LINES OF THE REBELLION. Map Illustrating the Present Geographical Extend of the Rebellion, Together with Lines Indicating Its Area During the Years 1861, '62, '63 and '64."  The balance of the ftpg. is taken up with text reflecting upon the previous year, with one column heads including: "1864" "The War Record" "Victory Everywhere" "Splendid Results Achieved" "What Grant Has Done" and more (see).  Complete in 8 pgs., various foxing throughout, more so to the front page adding some aged "patina" to this 143 year old newspaper. Otherwise in nice condition.
