April 16, 1912
CHICAGO AMERICAN, Illinois, April 16, 1912  This is a terrific issue on the sinking of the Titanic, not only having a bold, banner headline across the very top of the front page reading just as collectors want: "1,335 LOST WITH TITANIC" and related subheads, but also with not one but two front page graphics of the Titanic, one captioned: "According to the dispatches the bow of the Titanic was torn away as far back as the first collision bulkhead." and the other headed: "Photo-Diagram Of The Titanic's Fatal Crash." Also on the ftpg. the "First List Of Titanic's Saved." There is also a very nice graphic on pg. 3 recreating the ship hitting the iceberg (see photos), and with a banner head: "John Jacob Astor Perishes; Mrs. Astor Saved". Page 2 also has a banner headline: "Women and Children Go Down I Lifeboats" with several photos of Chicagoans on board (see photos). Presumably complete with 16 pages. Loose at the spine & various chipping at the margins but nothing affecting any text or prints. Otherwise in very nice, clean condition and a terrific issue for display.
