* ...the locks on the Black River, below Brownsville, N.Y., are completed, so that the navigation is now unmolested from the Lake to Brownsville. One of the largest boats used on the St. Lawrence, with about 100 men...passed through these locks, of two lifts, in six minutes... & a bit more.
