July 06, 1780
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 6, 1780

* Charleston South Carolina captured
* Revolutionary War original from the enemy

Pages 6 & 7 contain a very historic report, the heaviest American defeat of the Revolutionary War:

* the fall of Charleston, South Carolina, to the British. The report is taken from "The London Gazette Extraordinary" and has nearly a full column letter from "Head Quarters, Charles Town, South Carolina, June 4" being General Henry Clinton's official report on the capture of Charleston signed by him in type: H. Clinton. See the photos below for the full text.

Carrying over to pg. 7 are several reports on the captures, as well as another letter from Henry Clinton, one signed by: Cornwallis, and 3 signed by: Ban. Tarleton (see photos), the latter relating to the battle at Wacsaw, South Carolina.

There are a few other small tidbits relating to the Revolutionary War but they pale in comparison to the historic fall of Charleston report.

Complete in 8 pgs., measures 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 in., some smudging to the front page only with a small hole, generally in very nice condition.
